Privacy & Cookie Policy
VIP Security respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use this website or our services, why we collect it, how we look after it, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts 1988–2018.
1. Who we are
VIP Security is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
- Address: Rivers, Lisnagry, Co. Limerick, Ireland
- Email: [email protected]
- Phone: 087 929 0571
2. The information we collect
When you contact us through the website, we collect your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), the service you are interested in and your message.
When you phone or email us, we keep the details you give us so we can deal with your enquiry.
When you become a customer, we collect the information we need to survey, install, monitor and maintain your system, such as your name, the property address, contact numbers, keyholder details and service history.
When you browse the website, our hosting provider and the third-party services listed in section 5 may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. We do not use this to identify you.
3. How we use your information
We only use your personal data where the law allows us to:
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote: because you have asked us to take these steps before entering into a contract.
- To install, monitor, service and support your system: because it is necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To keep accounting and tax records: because we are legally required to.
- To keep the website secure and working properly: in our legitimate interests.
- To set optional cookies: only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for marketing unless you have agreed to that.
4. How long we keep it
If an enquiry does not lead to any work, we delete it within 12 months. Customer and billing records are kept for 6 years after our last dealings with you, to meet legal and tax obligations, and then securely deleted.
5. Who we share it with
We only share your data with service providers who help us run our business, and only as far as they need it:
- FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), which delivers messages from our contact form to our inbox.
- Our email and website hosting providers.
- Alarm monitoring partners, where you have chosen a monitored system.
- Google Fonts and Unsplash, which supply the fonts and some images on this website. Your browser connects to them directly, so they receive your IP address.
- Our accountants, and public authorities where the law requires it.
Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area. Where your data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
6. Cookies
Cookies are small files that a website stores on your device. We keep the cookies on this site to a minimum.
- Strictly necessary: we store your cookie choice in your browser so we do not ask you again on every page. This is needed for the site to work and does not require consent.
- Optional (analytics): if we use tools that help us understand how visitors use the site, they are only switched on if you click Accept on our cookie banner. If you click Reject, no optional cookies are set.
You can change your choice at any time using , which is also linked at the bottom of every page. You can also delete cookies through your browser settings.
7. Keeping your data secure
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Sensitive system details, such as alarm codes, are never requested through the website.
8. Your rights
Under data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your data, where we no longer need to keep it
- ask us to restrict or stop using your data in certain cases
- ask for your data in a portable format
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent
To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will reply within one month. There is normally no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28, www.dataprotection.ie. We would appreciate the chance to deal with your concerns first.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
